Part Time Laborer

Job Title: Laborer (part time)
Location: Parks Department
Salary: $9/hour
Start Date: Immediate

The Tinley Park-Park District is seeking a Part Time Laborer with demonstrated skills in general park maintenance duties. A maintained clean, valid Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Athletic Field Maintenance
  • Snow Removal
  • General Park Maintenance & Site Clean-Up
  • Routine Tasks & Projects

Part Time hours for this position:

  • Require weekend work on Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • Weekday Winter hours range from 10-25 hours/week (in addition to the required weekend hours)
  • Weekday Summer hours average 30 hours/week (in addition to the required weekend hours)
  • Scheduled hours are based on workload

The qualified individual should be well motivated, and possess good decision making and leadership skills. Must be willing to work in various weather conditions. Basic knowledge of hand tools and small machinery is a plus. Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.    This position is IMRF Qualified.

Assistant Athletic Supervisor

Job Title: Assistant Athletic Supervisor
Location: Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center
Start Date: Immediate

The Tinley Park-Park District is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Supervisor position.  Under the direction of the Athletic Supervisor, the Assistant Athletic Supervisor will assist in supervising athletic staff as well as organizing and administering athletic programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • making weather related decisions
  • monitoring inventory supplies and equipment
  • assisting with league meetings, rule interpretations, and programming
  • addressing customer service related issues

This year-round, part-time position will require a high school diploma, valid Driver’s License, and experience in athletics or recreation programming. Working toward an Associates or Bachelor degree in Recreation or related field is preferred. A majority of the work hours are Monday thru Friday (9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.); however, flexible work hours are also a requirement which will include afternoons, evenings, and a variety of weekends, holidays and on-call time. This position is IMRF Qualified.

Teen Center Attendant

Job Title: Teen Center Attendant
Location: The Pit Stop - Tony Bettenhausen Rec Center
Start Date: Immediate

The Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center’s “Pit Stop”, the Tinley Park-Park District’s Drop in Teen Center, is looking to hire Teen Center Attendants.

The Teen Center Attendant is a mentor, resource, & guiding force of good in the lives of the teen participants at The Pit Stop. The ideal candidate should have:

  • an enthusiastic personality and experience working with teenagers 11-16
  • experience with a variety of gaming equipment and card games such as Magic and Pokémon or be willing to learn
  • the ability to interact with the teen participants while providing a fun, safe and supervised area

Additional activities in the center include tournaments, movie nights, an exer-gaming area and active play areas including carpet ball, ping pong, billiards, etc. The Teen Center Attendant will also assist with creating new ideas for daily activities and special theme nights.

The Pit Stop is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Fridays from 4:00-9:00 p.m., as well as during days schools are off and additional hours over school breaks.
