Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this classic book in a throlling and utterly practical theatrical presentation. All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, Fern, Templeton, the Zuckerman family, the Arables, and of course, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be a "true friend and a good writer." This is a beautiful, knowing play about friendship that will give our actors a great opportunity and our audience an evening of enchantment. This production will be cast with children age 7-18 who have never had a large or leading role in a play. Tickets are $8 each and available two weeks prior to each performance at the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center (8125 W. 171st Street), or at the door the night of each performance if tickets still remain.

Arts Alive! Children's Theater: "The True Adventures of Pinocchio"

Performance Dates/Times: Friday, May 16 at 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m.
Location: Tinley Park Performing Arts Center (16801 S. 80th Avenue)
Tickets: $8 each

Something new; something exciting - our play will feature life-sized puppets that the actors will operate on stage, providing both action and voice. This is NOT your typical Pinocchio tale. A troupe of actors, escaping through the mountains from a civil war, seek shelter in an abandoned puppet theater. The eccentric, old puppeteer who lives in the theater gives the acting troupe refuge and tells the story of Pinocchio. When asked, "Is it a true story?" the old man replies, "It's more than true, it's real." Thus begins the metaphorical journey from childhood to maturity, and the unexpected conclusion of their passage. This production will be cast with children age 7-18 with or without acting experience. Tickets are $8 each and available for purchase at the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center (8125 W. 171st Street) two weeks prior to the performances, or at the door the night of each performance if tickets still remain.
