Tinley Park-Park District Special Events

Looking for a day of fun and activity? You've come to the right place!

The Tinley Park-Park District organizes a variety of special events for everyone! Whether it's a Clover or Easter Egg Hunt, a trip to see a play or professional sports team, a Mother/Son Sock Hop, or just shooting some baskets at the Rec Center; we've got something that will excite you!

Dog Park Passes on Sale

Date: (date TBD)
Location: Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center (8125 W. 171st Street)

Yearly passes for memberships at the Canine Campus Dog Park will be available for purchase at a later date. An informational packet with rules, regulations, and vaccination forms can be downloaded by clicking HERE.

Keep an eye out for more information about the Canine Campus Dog Park, including when passes officially go on sale and when the park opens for operation. A Grand Opening Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the park.

Graffiti on the Fourth Wall Comedy Improv Show

Date: Saturday, May 30

Fee: $8 per person

$8 admission. Age 13-adult (recommended). Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Covered Bridge Productions presents Graffiti on the Fourth Wall Comedy Improv Troupe to the adults and teens in our community. G4W, now in its 19th year, is a professional improv company with over 800 performances under its belly-laughable belt. You’ll enjoy these comedic actors satirical improvisations and sketches as well as humorous parodies and hilarious material. Every month will feature an all new comedy revue and, of course, improvisations from your suggestions. All material is family friendly.

The Del Melton Kids Fishing Derby

Date: Saturday, June 13

If you love to fish regardless of your experience, you’ll have a great time at our Annual Fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught and the most fish caught in each of the age categories. Bring your own fishing gear and bucket. Bait will be donated by the Fishing Connection in Tinley Park. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. You may register at the Recreation Center or on site on the day of the event from 8:30-9:00 a.m. Event will be held rain or shine.

7th Annual VVAC Art Show and Sale

Date: Saturday, June 13
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Vogt Visual Arts Center (17420 S 67th Court)

Fee: Free

The fine arts are alive in Tinley Park, and are on sale at this annual event. Come peruse the abundance of local art, and maybe find that perfect addition to your home décor. In
addition we will have live music in the gazebo! Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Dogs of Summer Beach Party
Join us for our Dogs of Summer Beach Pawty at the Canine Campus Dog Park! For this event we are bringing the water to the dogs, with sprinklers, baby pools, and water toys for the dogs to play in. Please bring your own towels! In addition we will have goody bags for dogs that come to the party, and light refreshments for their 2 legged friends! This event is recommended for dogs 20+ lbs.

Family Camp Out

Date/Time: Friday, July 17 at 4:30 p.m. - Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m.
Location: Community Park West Parking Lot, near Water Park (8221 W. 171st Street)

Fee: $15 per campsite (family of 4) / $5 each additional camper

Bring your tent and sleeping bags for a fun filled night under the stars. Planned activities include a late night movie on our giant blimp screen, campfire complete with s’mores, star gazing and more! White Water Canyon Water Park will be open until 8:30 p.m. for everyone camping out. All campers will enjoy a continental breakfast in the morning. Space is limited, register early. Tents and a limited number of pop-up and travel trailers will be allowed.

Comedy Improv and Open Mic Night

Fee: *$8 per person (*there is no fee for open mic talent that confirm their spot by July 8)

Our family-friendly show has been enjoyed by audiences since 2010. Join us at our state-of-the-art theater and be prepared to have fun, laugh until you drop and especially share your own talents at our thrice yearly Comedy Improv and Open Mic Night. Both KIDZ ON THE BRIDGE and GRAFFITI ON THE FOURTH WALL Comedy Improv
Troupes will perform. After, we’ll then open the stage up to anyone wishing to sing, do stand-up comedy, perform magic, present a monologue, dance, perform a scripted or
improvised scene, or simply tell some jokes.
