Field Conditions
Please refer to the League Weather Hotline for updates on Tinley Park-Park District athletic league updates. The hotline will only be updated if activities will be cancelled or adjusted, and no update for that day means all activities are on as scheduled. Field and weather conditions are assessed around 3:30 p.m. Mon-Fri, and throughout the day on weekends.
For updates on field conditions and activity cancellations for a different organization that utilizes Tinley Park-Park District fields, please refer to the organization running the activity.
Ice Rinks
When the forecast calls for multiple weeks of below-freezing temperatures in the winter months, the Park District often freezes an area at Community Park and Lewis Park for ice skating. Since each winter in Chicagoland is unique, there is no guarantee that the weather will present conditions to allow the ice rinks to be created every year.
In order for the Park District to create ice rinks, the following criteria must be met, at a minimum:
- Ample permafrost layer on the ground at each ice rink location
- At least two weeks of below-freezing temperatures forecast
- Parks staff availability
Ice rinks will be filled based on the discretion of Park District staff. Both ice rinks are not supervised, and all patrons are to use the ice rinks at their own risk.
Ice Rink Status:
Community Park: CLOSED (Lighted from dusk till 10 pm)
Lewis Park: CLOSED (Lighted from dusk till 10 pm)
