The Park District is excited to announce the reopening of St. Boniface Park, located at 16301 Oak Park Avenue, on Monday, May 24. The perimeter fencing is being removed and the park officially opens for use. The baseball field and multi-purpose field will remain closed while we allow the turf additional time to grow. All other areas of the park will be open for public access. Please visit our website for information on the upcoming St Boniface Park grand opening date. We appreciate your patience through this park re-development process!

St. Boniface remains closed pending completion of a few items including asphalt and concrete work as well as turf growth and a final sign-off from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District upon 70% turf coverage throughout the site. We anticipate meeting this requirement in the coming weeks at which point the park will open to the public. We certainly appreciate everyone’s patience during the construction phase and look forward to seeing the park site in use very soon. Please check back for information regarding a grand re-opening for the park toward the end of June (pending restrictions in place at the time).

The park has certainly taken shape. On a site visit on October 20, the parking lot was completed and stripped. The pathway around the site is in place with a few connections needing to be formed and concrete poured. There is still massive grading occurring toward the eastern side of the park where the retaining wall meets the soccer field. We have been told it should be completed in the next week or so. You will see the retaining walls start to be formed along with the installation of the playground in the coming weeks. Outside of the eastern portion of the site, much of the site is rough graded and awaiting additional topsoil before seeding can occur. We also recently added 11 new mature trees on the site to replace removed trees during the renovations. There are additional trees in the plan that will be planted in the coming weeks.

The concrete curb installation is almost completed. This week they have been working on placing drainage structures throughout the west side of the property with some to be laid heading east over the next week or so. Pouring of asphalt in the parking lot and courts is scheduled in about a week. While asphalt is being installed, the contractor plans to continue to grade and install infrastructure on the east side of the property and prepare the site for the rough grade. The playground structure is expected to arrive in mid-October.

As many of you are seeing, construction is taking off at the park. The playground, baseball field, parking lot and some trees have been removed from around the property. In the following weeks, expect to see concrete placed around the facility and mass grading that will form the park’s overall look. Drain tile and other forms to move water around the property will also be installed. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 27, 2020. Please contact the Park District at 708-342-4200 or email@example.com if you have any questions. Watch this page for additional updates as work progresses.
