Construction Updates
October 23, 2020
The park has certainly taken shape. On a site visit on October 20, the parking lot was completed and stripped. The pathway around the site is in place with a few connections needing to be formed and concrete poured. There is still massive grading occurring toward the eastern side of the park where the retaining wall meets the soccer field. We have been told it should be completed in the next week or so. You will see the retaining walls start to be formed along with the installation of the playground in the coming weeks. Outside of the eastern portion of the site, much of the site is rough graded and awaiting additional topsoil before seeding can occur. We also recently added 11 new mature trees on the site to replace removed trees during the renovations. There are additional trees in the plan that will be planted in the coming weeks.

The concrete curb installation is almost completed. This week they have been working on placing drainage structures throughout the west side of the property with some to be laid heading east over the next week or so. Pouring of asphalt in the parking lot and courts is scheduled in about a week. While asphalt is being installed, the contractor plans to continue to grade and install infrastructure on the east side of the property and prepare the site for the rough grade. The playground structure is expected to arrive in mid-October.

Progress continues!

As many of you are seeing, construction is taking off at the park. The playground, baseball field, parking lot and some trees have been removed from around the property. In the following weeks, expect to see concrete placed around the facility and mass grading that will form the park’s overall look. Drain tile and other forms to move water around the property will also be installed. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 27, 2020. Please contact the Park District at 708-342-4200 or info@tinleyparkdistrict.org if you have any questions. Watch this page for additional updates as work progresses.
