TINLEY PARK, IL: As the leaves begin to change and a cool wind starts to fill the air, the Tinley Park-Park District staff knows it’s just the start of one of the busiest times of the year at the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center. With Tot Time Preschool classes in full swing and local grade school children back to learning, the Park District plans to offer an assortment of classes, athletic leagues, workshops, and special events for both residents of the Park District and visitors to Tinley Park.
In October, many spooky (and not-so-scary for the little ones!) events and classes like pumpkin carving classes and the popular Haunted Halloween Happenings Open House will delight and fright! October also brings the Fall Arts and Craft Fair before moving into November with a Comedy Improv and Open Mic Night and the annual running of the Turkey Trot 5K at Vogt Woods. Finally, December highlights the season with holiday events with plenty of opportunities for children to meet St. Nick.
“It’s such a fun and exciting time of the year,” said the Park District’s Marketing Manager, Matt Libs. “Fall is when things really pick up around here. The Rec Center tends to get busy on weeknights as families are participating in karate, floor hockey, basketball, and other indoor activities, but busy means that people are enjoying their time in the programs and activities we’re providing,” said Libs.
“A busy Rec Center is a happy Rec Center!” he added.
The 2015 Fall Brochure is available now, either for download on the front page of tinleyparkdistrict.org or for pick up by coming in to the Bettenhausen Recreation Center. Any questions can be asked by calling the Park District at (708) 342-4200.30
